ELDEN RING was the Game of the Year in 2022 and is one of the best video games in history. After a couple of years, it will finally see the release of an expansion, and although it is expected to meet fans' expectations, it seems it will be the last we'll see of this title.
Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only DLC for ELDEN RING
During an interview with Campfire (via Wccftech), Hidetaka Miyazaki, president of From Software and director of ELDEN RING, confirmed that Shadow of the Erdtree will be the only expansion the title will have, putting an end to rumors and speculations about a second DLC following in the footsteps of previous releases from the Japanese company. Regarding this, the creative director pointed out that the decision was made carefully, thinking about the future of the franchise, which is hopeful for fans.

In that sense, Hidetaka Miyazaki stated: "It is the first and last DLC. We have no plans to add more content to ELDEN RING. FromSoftware's way of doing things is not to compromise the future of an IP, so it's better to leave some possibilities. But as for Shadow of the Erdtree, it is the only DLC."
Last February, Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke on this subject and indicated at that time that they would consider the possibilities to bring more content to ELDEN RING, but in the end, it was decided to have only one expansion, although that does not mean that everything is said for the franchise, since given its success, it is certain that FromSoftware will take it up again at some point.
