A new Xbox controller with touch screen and new features could be in production

PS5's DualSense technology caught the attention of many gamers. So some people believe that Xbox should compete with a similar controller, or at least with new technology and innovative features. Apparently, Microsoft has a secret project on its hands that could make this dream come true.

An Xbox patent has just come to light showing a peculiar touchscreen controller. This element would allow gamers to access personalized settings and social networks quickly and easily. It would also let users track their performance in their favorite games.

According to the patent, the controller would have a touch screen in the central part. From there it would be possible to access configuration profiles, audio options, and various tools such as social networks.

It would also display the remaining battery percentage, user name, and other useful items. As if that were not enough, it would have an option for gamers to measure their performance in some way. The patent indicates that the controller would have some sort of connectivity with mobile devices via a dedicated app.

You may be familiar with this idea, as ASUS recently unveiled an Xbox controller with an OLED display that you can see in the image above. However, everything indicates that the patent refers to another project in the direct hands of Microsoft. Below you can see an image of the patent.

It is important to clarify that the company has not confirmed such a project and that patents do not always materialize. Despite this, it is worth remembering that Phil Spencer praised the DualSense technology and suggested that Xbox could update its controller. We may have this design as a new official controller or a different one based on this one, but only time will tell.
