Earlier this week information about Grand Theft Auto 6 was leaked, suggesting that the next game in the franchise will be set in Miami and will be starred by a Latin woman in a Bonny and Clyde-style duo story.
However, earlier this week, an extensive report into the development of GTA 6 showed a few additional claims, indicating how ambitious the project was originally planned to be.
Maybe was impossible to keep pace…
Seems like Rockstar’s initial idea was way more ambitious, with a map that would include “large swaths of North and South America”. On the other hand, Stephen Totilo from Axios complemented this information by revealing that Rockstar planned four protagonists, each of them with endeavours across three cities.
As noted in the @axios Gaming newsletter, a source familiar with Rockstar had told me GTA VI was at one point planned to have three cities and four protagonists.

(I like the sound of @jasonschreier's report: one city, two protagonists, plans to expand)https://t.co/WUZoMXJ9tI pic.twitter.com/jnff46KqBP
That would take centuries
Okay, four protagonists in three different cities would take a lot of time to bring to life and after Rockstar employees’ reports on company culture and reliance on crunch, practices is obvious that the company would not risk it again.
According to a Bloomberg report, the studio has been working to improve its culture recently, having implemented a new flexitime policy to immediately gain back extra time spent working, narrowed the gender pay gap, and started hiring additional producers to ensure workloads are better managed.
Only time will show us if changes within the company were real, in the meantime… share your thoughts in the comments below:
