As reported by Kotaku, Bandai Namco is the latest major gaming company to suffer a major hack
According to Twitter malware-watching groups, the ransomware group ALPHV also known as BlackCat added the Japanese publisher to its list of victims earlier today claiming to attack the company and have “data soon”.

Bandai Namco did respond to a request for comment, which does not make clear the veracity of this information or the extent of the damage.
This is not the first time Vx-underground has reported on other hacks way before the affected companies confirmed them, including the Lapsu$ attack which targeted Microsoft, Nvidia, and Ubisoft.

ALPHV is bad news in general as this group is an FBI target and previously boasted of wanting to create a "ransomware metaverse" to The Record. If you are not familiar with this terminology, don’t worry we got you. If true, this attack can obtain information from personal employee data, a firm's financial, and game details. Most of the time to extort money from victims or to sell it out to the best bidder.
